Production Sample + Backerkit Update

Production Sample

Exciting news! We recently received the production sample from the manufacturer! For the most part, everything looks great and we only need to make a few adjustments.

Here are most of the components:

Now, for the things that need adjustments...If you see here, the heart tokens are a little more orange than I was hoping for. I'll be asking to make them a little pinker.

Some of the magic tokens are also a little bit off center. Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything that can be done about this, as this comes down to how the die cuts work. I'll ask just to be sure, though.

Here is a preview of the organization of the box. For the most part, it matches what we were going for, but I think the smaller openings can be made a bit more compact.

Production Timeline + Backerkit

Things are on schedule so far. Based on what our manufacturer has told us, mass production should start in March, with production taking about 10 days and shipment to the US taking about a month.

Based on this information, we'll be pushing back the lock order deadline for Backerkit to sometime in February, but it would still be helpful to fill out surveys sooner rather than later. We're just waiting on 17 more people to fill theirs out. (Some are just missing shipping/payment info, so while this info isn't needed just yet, filling it out now ensures you won't have to remember to do it later.)

Once again, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Having this production sample shows we're just one step closer to making this game a reality and it's super exciting! Thank you for your continued support!

Happy Holidays + Survey Update
over 1 year ago – Sat, Dec 24, 2022 at 01:38:51 AM

First of all, I wanted to say Happy Holidays! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Since the survey has been open for about 2 weeks now, I just wanted to give a quick update. So far, 75% of backers have completed their survey, which is awesome! We're just waiting on 27 people to fill theirs out.

The good news is we've pushed back the date that we'll be locking orders: this is currently set to January 31st (addresses will be locked at a later date). So while there's still a good chunk of time left, the sooner we get your responses, the better.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Once again, we appreciate your support and the fact that so many people answered promptly!

Pledge Manager Open
over 1 year ago – Sat, Dec 10, 2022 at 12:42:38 AM

The survey has been sent out to everyone at this point. Make sure to check your spam folder if you can't find the email.

If you still can't find it, you can head to the survey recovery link here: https://witch-way-a-game-of-twists-and-turns.backerkit.com/

In addition, the pre-order store has opened for late pledges. (Click on the "Late Pledge" button at the top of the Kickstarter page to head there.) Anyone who missed out on the Kickstarter will still have the opportunity to order the game at its reduced $25 price. If you know anyone who didn't back during the campaign who would like a copy, let them know that now is the best time to buy!

The explanation for how Backerkit works can be found in our last update, but if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. You can message us on Kickstarter or email [email protected]

Surveys
over 1 year ago – Fri, Dec 09, 2022 at 07:54:16 PM

Good news! The survey is ready!

We'll first send it to just a few of the backers to be sure everything is functioning properly; then we'll send it to everyone else.

For those of you who are new to Kickstarter or Backerkit, let me explain how this works. Backerkit serves a few functions:

1.) You confirm your order.

2.) You have the opportunity to add extra copies of the game if you want.

3.) It's where we charge sales tax and shipping.

You'll receive an email with a link to the survey. The first step confirms your order. The second step gives you the opportunity to get add-ons. Finally, you enter your address and pay for sales tax, shipping and anything you weren't charged for during the Kickstarter.

Here are a few possible examples:

Example A.) You pledged $25. You only want one copy of the game. In this case, you can skip the add-on page and just pay for shipping/sales tax.

Example B.) You pledged $75 and want three copies of the game. This $75 acts as a deposit that you can apply towards add-ons. The first $25 is automatically applied to one copy of the game. Then, in the add-on section, you select 2 more copies of Witch Way. The remaining $50 from your initial order is applied as a credit. You then only have to pay for shipping/sales tax.

Example C.) You pledged $1 and decide you want a copy of the game after all. On the add-on page, you can choose to add a copy of Witch Way. You will have a $1 credit already applied, and only have to pay $24 plus shipping/sales tax.

We'll send out another update once the surveys have been sent to everyone, but please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. You can either message us here on Kickstarter or send an email to [email protected].

The survey will remain open for roughly a month, although you'll be able to update your address up until right before the fulfillment process begins.

Thank you for supporting the Witch Way Game Launch!

Pledge Manager, MSRP, Shipping, Manufacturing Progress
over 1 year ago – Fri, Nov 25, 2022 at 10:35:40 AM

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing well!

We've been working on quite a few things since the campaign ended. I'll catch you all up to speed.

MSRP

We will be doing a smaller print run than we initially planned, and because of this, the cost per unit has increased from our initial quote. This doesn't affect you or the Kickstarter in any way, but it means that when we sell the game through distribution, in order to make a profit, we have to increase the MSRP from our plan of $30 to $35. If anything, this means that those of you who backed during the campaign will be getting even more of a deal, and anyone who backs through the pledge manager will also receive the game at the Kickstarter price of $25. So if you know any friends that would like a copy, let them know that now is the best time to buy!

Pledge Manager

On that same note, we've been making progress on the pledge manager. I've always wondered why it takes other creators so long to get the pledge manager ready, but now that I'm in the driver's seat, I totally understand. It's a lot more complicated than you'd think. Even with only one item to worry about, there's a lot of moving pieces to take into consideration.

We're super close to finishing it though. My hope is to have it ready and start sending surveys out within a week, maybe two.

Shipping

We got updated shipping estimates from our fulfillment company, and while they're still not finalized, they did increase about $2-$4 for one game, depending on the country. Since some of the shipping costs we initially posted are already pretty high and we want to keep shipping for you guys as affordable as possible, we looked into what it would cost us to cover the difference and it looks like we have enough left over to do so. This means that the prices listed on the Kickstarter will be the finalized shipping costs (for a single game; shipping gets progressively cheaper the more games you get).

Manufacturing

In the meantime, we've been in communication with our manufacturer and have started getting the ball rolling. The deposit for production has been paid and we're currently reviewing the print files. Once a few changes have been made, they'll be ready to start production of the proof samples!

So long as everything goes according to plan, the game should be ready to ship early next year.

It's super exciting that we're finally making progress! Witch Way has been in development since 2020, so I'm super pumped that it's this much closer to becoming an actual product the general public can enjoy! I hope you're all as excited as we are!
